Fit

Fit is, by far, the most critical element in choosing a helmet.  You want a snug fit that is comfortable.  A well-fitting helmet should be snug, but not uncomfortablly tight or headache inducing.
Kids’ heads grow relatively slow so get one that fits today.

Safety

Besides adding comfort and boosting performance on the slopes, helmets provide an all-important safety element. ASTM F2040: Standard Specification for Helmets Used for Recreational Snow Sports was adopted and published in September of 2000, giving ski helmet makers three standards, anyone or combination of which they could choose to design and build their ski and snowboard protective head gear around.  The Snell RS-98 standard is the most stringent ski helmet standard in the world.
